Melvin Burgess, William Goldman & Mark Twain.

3.What's your earliest memory?
Being in my bedroom and thinking someone was outside the window.

I always have nightmares of having no control over the people around me - they can't hear me or see me.

How do you spoil yourself?
I buy comics on the internet.

What's your favourite word?
It's a Wexford word - corpzublicked- it means you're in major trouble - up the creek without a paddle!

Have you ever had any other jobs apart from writing?
I was a primary school teacher, I worked as a builder/labourer in Paddington underground station, I've been a set builder for theatres, a barman and a power technician.

What are you proudest of?
My two lads.

Where do you write?
I write in a little shed in the back of my garden.

Where's your favourite city?
Dublin, because it's small and friendly and easy to get around. It's more like a town than a city.

One wish; what would it be?
I suppose that everyone would wish for peace on earth and goodwill amongst men and so would I, but if I had a selfish wish, I would wish that I could draw cartoons.

Did you enjoy school?
I enjoyed most of my time at school but sometimes it was a bit scary because some of my teachers were a bit free with the stick. Most of them were nice, though.

What's the funniest thing you've ever seen?
I really like listening to funny conversations with my friends - I have 3 or 4 very funny friends so we have a good laugh.
